PHA doctors are available for our patients 24 hours/day, 365 days per year.
Our doctors will gladly return all phone calls. We will make every effort to call you back as soon as possible. Many callbacks will be made at lunchtime or after 4:30pm. If the problem requires a quicker response, please inform the staff.
Your after-hour calls will be answered by one of our doctors in a timely fashion. We do not use a triage service, or doctors outside our group. When the office is closed, our answering machine will pick up. You will be instructed to “Press 1” to leave a message that will be answered when the office reopens, or you may choose to “Press 2” and be forwarded to our answering service and have our on-call doctor contacted.
Our doctors are on staff at Schneider Children’s Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and North Shore University Hospitals at Manhasset and Plainview. For life-threatening emergencies access 911. For minor traumas, fractures, or lacerations, our on-call doctor may arrange for care at a local emergency room.
Getting you the information you want and need is a high priority. Our Parent Information Board, Computer Reference System, CPR series and monthly handouts offer a wide range of information on topics of interest – medical, nutritional and behavioral. Our doctors, nurses and staff will be happy to help you find the information you need.
We are thrilled to have MaryLou Marotta as our office manager. She has a wealth of experience and is a valuable resource for questions regarding office policy and procedure.
Our office is happy to obtain a referral for your child. Each insurance company has different requirements. The following procedure will make the process as easy as possible.
Please make sure one of our doctors has approved the referral.
Please give us 48 hours advance notice for a non-urgent appointment.
Please know the name of the specialist you are going to see and date of the visit.
Please call the specialist and obtain his/her identification number for your insurance company as well as his/her office phone and fax.
We value your time and it is a priority for us to see your child in a timely manner. Please be on-time for your appointments. Patients arriving late are the main reason why our doctors run late. If you are more than 15 minutes late for a well-care appointment we may ask you to reschedule.
Well-care Limits Some insurance companies limit your well-care coverage. Please contact your insurance company prior to any well-care visit to make sure it will be covered. We try our hardest to keep track of this for you, but it is extremely difficult because each plan can be different. Any well-care visits that are not covered by your insurance company will be your responsibility. If your child needs a well care visit that may not be covered, please let us know before the appointment and we may be able to work within your insurance guidelines.
